Can y'all believe that February has come and gone?! What a blur! I started out strong with the 4x7 Challenge hosted by
Berry Barn Designs, but I'll admit I fizzled out towards the end. I was still getting some sewing done, but none of it was selfish sewing. I got work on those baby quilt commissions I mentioned last week. I'm having fun getting back to FMQ loop-dee-doo's!

A few hearts thrown in for fun too! |
I did make some selfish sewing purchases lately though! Some lovely Kona Coal and this interesting white on white text print are hopefully going to help me finish two different projects. I can't wait to get started on them!

Remember those scrap vortex blocks?! |

That white is going to be a great background for those hexies! |
I'm sad to see the end of the 4x7 Challenge, but it was so fun to have some motivation to sew for myself this month!
Sewing is sewing, selfish or otherwise. Sometimes just making the time to sew, even if it's on a gift for someone or a commissioned quilt, is a struggle. And mmmm.... Kona Coal. But I bet you knew I'd say that!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn! Some days it really is hard to get some sewing time in. This past week has definitely been an example of that! And oh yes to the Kona Coal! I just sat petting it in the store while I decided what shade of gray I wanted. :)
DeleteYour hearts and loop dee doos are perfect for the baby quilt. Love your Kona purchases. You have been very busy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer! I love experimenting with little things in FMQ, you can do so much with it! And the shopping trip for the fabric was a bit of a celebration; that morning, I was completely cleared for work with no restrictions! YAY! :)
DeleteThat white on white is very interesting...in it's own subtle way. To me almost any sewing is selfish...but I might join up the 4X7 challenge next year and give it a little more thought.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa! I had thought about just a solid white, but it just seemed too flat. I'm hoping a little white on white action will spice things up some! And you should definitely join the 4x7 challenge next year. Even if you don't 'sew selfishly' every day, it's a great motivator to sew every day. A lot of people brought out projects or mending that had been put off and needed finishing touches. And the giveaways add some fun too! :)
DeleteLove the heart FMQ. Not all my sewing was selfish. I think if you sewed, success.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anja! I always look at it as a day with sewing is a happy day! :) And honestly, I ran out of 'selfish sewing' projects to work on! Lol. I bought the Kona and white fabric though, so I'm geared up for some more quilts for home (most likely) after I get these commissions finished.
DeleteI definitely didn't just sew for myself in the sense that everything I made was for me. But I finished things I've been thinking about for too long and that is selfish because I'm finally done thinking about it and can move on! It's like it puts my mind to rest!
ReplyDeleteI love that white on white fabric. It's like a reward for the person who really looks carefully at it!
Thanks JoAnna! I like your thinking! I've caught myself more than once thinking about quilting into the wee hours of the night. Or at work during slow times! Lol. And that white on white fabric is fun, I love it more each time I look at it. I think it may be French, I need to enlist some of my Canadian friends to translate! :)
DeleteJennifer, I love the little hearts in with the loops - cute! I'm sorry the month got caught up in other projects for you, but it sounds like you have been getting a lot of sewing done nonetheless! Thanks for participating in the challenge : )
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! Any sewing is happy sewing, but it's always nice to sew something for ourselves every once and a while! :) Thanks for hosting the challenge, it's been fun!!
